The Role

The technology landscape has changed. Lion is changing with it.

Cloud, AI, increasingly connected operations and a rapidly evolving cyber threats are changing both how we run our business and how we need to protect it. Cyber security can no longer sit at the edge of technology change. It needs to be built into how we design, operate and evolve the business.

As Head of Cyber, together with key leaders within D&T and around Lion you'll lead that shift.

You’ll set a clear direction for cyber at Lion and, importantly, be accountable for making the change. That starts with an objective assessment of where we are today, what needs to change and where investment will make the greatest difference across people, process and technology.

You will:

• Create and implement Lion’s cyber strategy, translating it into a practical, prioritised roadmap with measurable outcomes
• Assess and strengthen our cyber capability across people, processes and platforms
• Build cyber into the way Lion adopts cloud, AI and other emerging technologies, enabling change without losing sight of risk
• Strengthen security across both enterprise IT and operational technology environments
• Partner with senior leaders across Digital & Technology, Supply Chain, Risk and the broader business to make clear choices about cyber risk and investment
• Lead and develop Lion’s internal cyber team and hold our managed service and technology partners to a high standard
• Provide confident technical and operational leadership when it matters, including during significant cyber incidents

This is not a role for someone who wants to write a strategy and hand it over. It's a role for someone who wants to set the direction, make the choices and lead the work required to build a cyber capability fit for where Lion is going.

About you

You are an experienced cyber leader who can move comfortably between the boardroom and the technology environment.

You have the technical depth to challenge architects, engineers and partners, the commercial judgement to make sensible decisions about risk and investment, and the leadership capability to turn strategy into sustained execution.

You’ll bring:

• Significant experience leading cyber in a large, complex organisation
• A track record of developing cyber strategy and, more importantly, implementing it
• Strong technical capability across modern cyber environments, including cloud, identity, security architecture and operations
• Sound commercial judgement and a pragmatic, risk-based approach to cyber security
• Experience building and leading capable teams and getting the best from external partners
• The ability to explain complex cyber risks plainly and influence decisions at senior levels
• The confidence and technical credibility to lead through significant cyber incidents
• Experience across IT and operational technology environments. FMCG, manufacturing, financial services or another large-scale operational environment would be highly regarded

You don’t need to arrive with a predetermined answer. You do need to be able to work out what matters, make the case for change and lead the organisation through it.
