We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Brewer to oversee all brewing operations and liquid development, ensuring efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement across the brewery.
This role is critical in driving a strong safety culture, optimizing production performance, and fostering a high-performing team while ensuring compliance with brewing best practices, equipment maintenance, and raw material management.
The responsibilities of this role include:
- Safety & Compliance: Lead a culture of safety by implementing and reinforcing best practices in line with Lion’s Safety Management System. Ensure continuous improvement in injury prevention, hazard identification, and risk reduction.
- Quality Leadership: Drive adherence to the site’s Quality and Environment strategy, ensuring all products meet the highest standards through compliance with the Quality Plan and implementation of robust quality maintenance practices.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee brewing operations to achieve production efficiency, equipment performance, and delivery targets. Optimize maintenance planning, resource allocation, and spare parts management to maximize equipment lifespan and reliability.
- Continuous Improvement & Sustainability: Utilize lean methodologies to enhance productivity, minimize waste, and improve key performance indicators, including water and energy efficiency, extraction rates, and right-first-time production.
- Capital & Budget Management: Develop and execute the annual capital plan while managing budgets for labour, maintenance, and raw materials to drive cost efficiency and long-term value creation.
- Leadership & Team Development: Build and lead a high-performing brewing team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Provide technical mentorship and ensure alignment with the site’s Capability Plan.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with site leadership and group functions to drive alignment with broader business objectives and enhance operational efficiencies.
About You:
- You must have a relevant degree in Science or Engineering.
- You must have an MBA
- 10 years of leadership experience in large beverage sites as a department or site leader
- 10 years of experience in brewing.
- Proven leadership experience in brewing operations within a large-scale brewery.
- Strong technical expertise in brewing science, quality management, and production processes.
- Demonstrated ability to drive safety, quality, and operational excellence.
- Proven ability to motivate and inspire people at all levels to build a high-achievement team.
- Experience in managing union-related issues and navigating complex industrial relations.
- Multiple site experience with a strong ability to adapt and manage diverse operational challenges.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams, capital projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and strategic problem-solving.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on innovation, problem-solving, and driving efficiency.
