Project & System Improvement Engineer
East Tamaki, AUK, NZ
At Lion, we're not just about brewing great beer – we're about creating unforgettable experiences. We believe in the power of our products to bring communities together, spark conversations, and create lasting memories.
We're looking for a Project & Systems Improvement Engineer (Internal Job Title is Project Engineer) to join our Capital Projects team. This is a Permanent Full Time position based in our Pride Brewery in Auckland.
This isn't your typical Project Engineer role. It's a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys the variety of delivering capital projects while also improving the systems and processes that help projects run smoothly across the business.
Think of it as two roles in one:
- 50% Project Engineer – managing and delivering capital projects from concept through to commissioning.
- 50% Systems & Continuous Improvement – maintaining and improving our capital project management systems, reporting and governance, while supporting project teams with best practice.
If you enjoy both the technical and organisational side of engineering, this could be the perfect fit.
What you'll be doing
You'll partner with engineering, operations and finance teams to deliver projects while ensuring our project systems remain efficient, accurate and fit for purpose.
Your day could include:
- Managing capital projects through the full project lifecycle, from feasibility to handover.
- Supporting and maintaining Lion's capital project management systems, including CapexInsights and SAP.
- Preparing and reviewing project forecasts, financial reports and capital reporting.
- Championing project management best practice across our Supply Chain network.
- Training and supporting stakeholders on project systems and processes.
- Identifying opportunities to simplify, improve and standardise the way we manage projects.
- Ensuring engineering, safety and governance standards are met throughout project delivery.
What we're looking for
You'll ideally bring:
- Experience managing engineering or capital projects.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Confidence working with a broad range of stakeholders, including Finance and site teams.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a passion for making systems and processes better.
- Experience with project management systems, SAP or similar platforms would be advantageous.
- An Engineering degree is desirable but not essential. A relevant trade qualification with strong project experience would also be highly regarded.
Why Lion?
At Lion, you'll work on meaningful projects that shape the future of our manufacturing network while helping improve the way projects are delivered across the business.
You'll join a collaborative team where you'll have the opportunity to influence how we work, build strong relationships across the business and continue developing your engineering career.
