Laboratory Technician - Speights

At Speight’s brewery we brew and deliver an iconic range of Lion beers and produce malt extract for the food and beverage industries.

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our production team, based in Dunedin, this is a permanent full-time role.

As Speight’s Laboratory Technician, you will be primarily responsible for the management of the laboratory and conduct analytical and microbiological testing to meet Lion quality standards. Additionally, we are looking to develop the skill set of this role to perform brewing production tasks as required. 

Key responsibilities include:
•    Providing accurate, timely and reliable analysis
•    Ensuring all laboratory equipment maintained and calibrated.
•    Maintain housekeeping, laboratory quality systems, procedural and reporting standards
•    Support and train production teams in quality control and coordinate the site sensory team
•    Support site food safety and environmental certifications
•    Support and lead quality investigations
•    Support the brewing production team

Key to your success will be:
•    Preferably a tertiary qualification in chemistry, biological sciences, food technology or similar
•    Ideally have laboratory or brewing experience
•    The ability to work independently and deliver routine analysis to a high standard
•    The energy, enthusiasm, and ability to perform multiple tasks
•    Solid communication, writing and computer skills
•    A passion for quality and great beer!
