Coffee Specialist

Hola! The Havana team have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Coffee guru to join the team as our Coffee Specialist, based at our Auckland Roastery.  This role is dedicated to leading in-depth coffee education, managing and hosting engaging coffee tours, and providing comprehensive training for both staff and customers for Havana.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive coffee training programs for Staff & Customers, enhancing their coffee making skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct regular workshops and tastings for staff and customers, showcasing Havana’s coffee varieties and brewing methods.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and innovations in coffee to continuously refine training content and methods
  • Host public & industry events at our sites as well as looking at opportunity to be involved in industry competitions & events. 
  • Implement and oversee quality control measures for coffee production, ensuring consistency and excellence in every cup.
  • Provide ongoing support to the sales team in terms of troubleshooting issues related to coffee preparation, equipment.

 

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Coffee Roasting Knowledge: Understanding of the roasting process, bean sourcing, and how different roasting profiles influence flavours.
  • Barista Expertise: In-depth knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and espresso machine operations, with the ability to troubleshoot and train others.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to build strong, lasting relationships with cafés and their staff, providing both technical and business support.
  • Training & Coaching: Experience in developing training materials and conducting sessions for baristas and café staff.
  • Sales & Communication: Ability to present and sell coffee products to café owners and other stakeholders, with strong communication skills.
  • Passion for Coffee: A genuine enthusiasm for coffee, coffee culture, and the café industry.

 

You will also need to have a Full NZ driver’s license for this role.
