At Lion, we’re home to brands that have a special place in New Zealand culture – from Steinlager, Speight’s, Mac’s, Lion Red, Waikato Draught, Panhead and Emerson’s. We’re looking for an Assistant Brand Manager to join our Marketing team and help shape how our beer brands show up for consumers, customers and communities.
You’ll get hands-on exposure across brand communications, activation, innovation and NPD, working closely with Marketing, Sales, Customer Marketing, agencies and external partners. You’ll help turn brand strategy into activity that strengthens our brands and delivers commercial impact.

What you’ll be doing
- Bring brand plans to life through engaging consumer, shopper and customer activity
- Support communications and activation across multiple channels
- Help take innovation and NPD from concept through to launch
- Work closely with Sales and other teams to deliver strong in-market execution
- Build productive relationships with agencies and external partners
- Manage projects, priorities and timelines in a fast-moving environment
- Use insights and commercial thinking to make informed marketing decisions
The role offers hands-on exposure to brand building, innovation and commercial marketing, with the opportunity to continue developing across Lion’s Marketing capability.
What you’ll bring
- A solid foundation in marketing, with experience across areas such as brand, communications or activation
- Exposure to innovation and NPD, ideally including bringing new products or initiatives to market
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- An ability to build strong relationships and work effectively across Sales, Marketing, agencies and external partners
- A good understanding of how to turn consumer and market insights into action
- A collaborative style, with the confidence to communicate and engage with different stakeholders
- Curiosity and learning agility – you’re keen to build your capability, take on feedback and keep developing
- FMCG experience is welcome, but not essential – we’re open to relevant experience from other industries
